SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 5
(By Senators Unger, Anderson, Ball, Deem, Dittmar,
Helmick, Love, Minear, Mitchell and Ross)
[Originating in the Committee on Agriculture]
Requesting the United States Congress to pass legislation which
would require clear labeling as to country of origin for use
by grocers and other food retailers on all fruits and
vegetables which enter and are sold in the United States.

of produce which they purchase; and

Whereas, The lack of labels as to country of origin may
adversely affect American produce farmers who may be competing at
a disadvantage with foreign producers who are not subject to the
same regulations and inspections; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the United States Congress is hereby requested to enact
legislation requiring labeling as to country of origin of all
fruits and vegetables sold in the United States; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the Senate is hereby
directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the members of the
West Virginia congressional delegation.
